In other news, it is snowing in Hell tonight.
Seriously, perhaps this is a sign that a reboot of the cartoon isn't far behind. Considering the runaway popularity of My Little Pony, it seems like a logical next step for Hasbro.
In the truly outrageous department, Integrity Toys, Inc., announced on June 27, 2012 their plans to release a brand-new series of collectible fashion dolls based on the 1980′s ground-breaking animated television series "Jem and The Holograms" which is still popular on The Hub today.
The first doll in the series of characters based on the "Jem and The Holograms" cartoon show will be Hollywood Jem, based on a costume worn in the two-part episode of the same name.Hollywood Jem is 12" tall and comes with cotton candy pink hair, hand applied eyelashes, accurate costume with couture like finish, miniature Jemstar earrings, miniature Hollywood Star award plaque, shoes, bracelets and a microphone and stand.
Samantha Newark, who provided the voice for Jem in the cartoon series, says about the Jem character and doll, "What's not to love about Jem? She has perfect pink hair, great legs, is a world famous pop star and is a nice caring person."
The "Jem and The Holograms" dolls, under license from Hasbro, Inc., will be unveiled at the 2012 Comic-Con International in San Diego. The special edition Hollywood Jem doll will be available at the Hasbro Toy Shop booth during Comic-Con International in San Diego at an approximate retail price of $125.
